Heated Stair Treads

Well, this is pretty clever, actually: we don't see that too often here in Atlanta but walking on ice sucks. Walking on ice when it's on some stairs sucks even harder. Still, Hammacher Schlemmer has a solution. It's a pricey solution, but you knew that from the moment I said "Hammacher Schlemmer."
Plug these treads in to an outlet (the cables are waterproof, naturally), lay the treads out on the steps, and they raise the temperature by fifty degrees. They can melt two inches of snow an hour. Nice. You get three treads for US$180 with each additional tread (the cables and such support up to ten) for US$60 a shot.
Now last I checked you could get rock salt for a lot cheaper than that, but I guess if you're concerned about such things, then you could go for this solution as well. Beats sitting outside with a hair dryer, that's for sure.
